About Mrs. Warren

Hello to you all. My name is Amy Warren and am the Graduation Coach at BHS. Graduation and Academic Coaches at BHS are here to help students succeed. Coaches and counselors work with students, parents/guardians, and teachers to communicate about grades, attendance, coursework, schedules, and other topics that come up in the classroom and at BHS. Check with us to make sure you are on track with your classes and with your progress toward graduation. Ask us questions about opportunities like the After School Program, HOPE Scholarship and HOPE Grant, Dual Enrollment, careers, and high school opportunities that can help you prepare for your future.

In addition to working with BHS students as a Graduation Coach, I also taught English courses here for the past several years. I loved teaching these classes because the curriculum for each English course is comprised of a variety of learning activities that help prepare students for college learning, career changes, and life experiences. I feel like I am able to continue this type of important work as Graduation Coach.

On a personal note, I’m a mom to three boys that also attend Berrien Schools. They keep me very busy. My husband and I keep them out of trouble by camping a lot with them.  We love to travel all over Georgia and we also like to go to the Florida beaches to go camping.

With all that said, please let me know if you need anything. I am here to help!

Pictured are 9th Grade Narrative Writing Contest Winners Bruce Ford (left), Harley Tuttle (center), and McKenzie McLean (right). They worked together to write and illustrate an “Out of this World” story.

Students worked in small groups using Google documents to collaborate in writing and illustrating creative narratives. They wrote original—suspenseful—stories as part of a larger narrative unit examining narrative strategies like imagery, action, dialogue and plot. As part of the unit, students analyzed how writers like Arthur C. Clark (“If I Forget Thee Oh Earth…” and 2001 Space Odyssey) and H.G. Wells (War of the Worlds), use narrative strategies like action and dialogue to create suspense. Students had the opportunity to share their “Out of this World” stories by displaying them on the wall for other students to read.
